Do you still offer Training?

If not, then with the UK legislation changes from April 2010, you may need to.

The new rights of approximately 11 million employees in Great Britain to request 'time to train'

will apply to all organisations with 250 employees or more, extending to all organisations from

6 April 2011.

In a climate of budget cuts and workforce redundancies, keeping such training activity going will continue to be difficult.  In the short term, cutting training budgets is great for managing cash flow issues (51% of UK businesses have done just that), however, in the longer term, you can be left

with a reduction in capacity and loss of valuable knowledge and expertise - something that is needed if the economy is to climb back out of recession.

If you run in-house training these changes might mean: that you will continue to struggle to find

the budget to pay for an increasing number of training requests.  The Board is likely to expect detailed reports about the links between the training you offer, the business needs, actual improvement in performance and return on investment.  Alongside all of this, training delivery requirements will almost certainly increase and may even involve purchasing more external consultants.

If you are a training provider, you may well find yourself competing with a number of displaced trainers in an already crowded marketplace and be challenged to show potential clients how the services that you offer are the highest quality provision to win tenders.
